This is just a short little blurb I wrote at the beginning of the school year, I'm not even sure it can be called a real poem. (I am definitely not a poet.) But whatever else it may be, it's a good reminder.
A Poem to Myself
Be your best.
That doesn't mean 'compete.'
It means 'be your best.'
It doesn't mean 'I'm better than you.'
It means 'I'm better than myself.'
It doesn't mean 'I broke your record.'
It means 'I broke my record.'
It doesn't mean 'be THE best.'
It means 'be YOUR best.'
All the time.
